ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The department’s focus includes the study of the latest developments in the world-wide financial markets and institutions and financial risk in the financial industry. We design and regularly review our programs to ensure they combine academic and practical relevance, as informed by professional standards, employer expectations, research-led insights and business links.
The Bachelor of Science program in Banking and Finance offered by the Department of Economics and Finance was approved and launched in 1998. The program was initiated in response to the exponential growth of the financial sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. With the vision of 2030 and the Kingdom’s transition to the new digitally economy, the program has been enhanced to equip students with analytical tools, skills, knowledge and competencies integrated into the course curriculum.
The Bachelor of Science Program in International Business and Economics was approved in 2020. The program allows students to understand in-depth International Business and Economics principles and concepts and their connections with other business areas, employ an understanding of how Business and Economics operate in a global and multicultural environment. It allows them to apply critical and reflective thinking skills to evaluate Business and Economics information using appropriate technologies. Finally, it allows them to demonstrate interpersonal, teamwork, collaborative, and leadership skills, and learn tasks independently, professionally, and ethically.
