FACULTY BIO

Prof. Adel Ismail Al-Alawi earned his BSc. in Business Information Systems (BIS) and MBA in BIS, Maine, USA, and holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the University of Leeds, UK. He is a Professor of MIS and Management. Al-Alawi is the founder of BIS and was a Chairperson of the BIS department at the College of Business and the founders of College of Information Technology and Head of BIS Department, where he served UOB for more than 35 years. Adel received many awards, such as the BIS award from the Late Amir of Bahrain; HRH Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa presented the Award on National Education day 1985 and 1993 presented by the Amir. The recognition of Excellence in MIS from Husson University Alumni Association – Maine, US (1993); Judge Award in Bahrain Website Competition – the Award given by the King's son HRH Sh. Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Khalifa (2006); Award of Appreciation from Bahrain Information Technology Society (BITS) in its 25th Anniversary for providing Leadership and Excellent Services to BITS in furtherance of its objectives (2008); eGovernment Excellence Award - the Award presented by Sh. Ahmed Bin Ateyat Allah Al-Khalifa Minister of Cabinet Affairs (2010); TechNo Disabilities Award for the Recognition of Outstanding Contribution and Academic Advisor -HRH Sh. Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa the King's son (2017), presented the Award. Adel is also one of the founders and board members for the Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA, Bahrain-Chapter), Bahrain-Information-Technology-Society (BITS), Bahrain Academic Society, and the past President of ISACA Bahrain Chapter. We were awarded the best innovative chapter in the world (2018). Adel is considered an MIS Authority in Bahrain. Adel taught courses such as Knowledge Management, Strategic Management, General-Management, Supply-Chain-Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Human-Resource-Management, Organizational-Behavior, e-Banking, e-Commerce, Online-Banking, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Marketing.
