FACULTY BIO

Dr. Abidin Ali Al Hassan is an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Department of Economics and Finance, College of Business Administration, University of Bahrain. Dr Abidin holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand, a master’s degree in Business Planning and Microfinance Management from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana and an intermediate certificate in Banking from the Chartered Institute of Bankers Ghana. His research focuses on development finance with an insight on the modalities of financial inclusion and how Fintech can enhance financial inclusion. He is particularly interested in understanding the use of Fintech to reduce cash use and bring financial services closer to poor people. Dr Abidin has published in a number of journals, including the International Journal of Finance and Economics, Australasian Journal of Information Systems, Applied Economics and Frontiers in Public Health. Dr Abidin is a reviewer for the Journal of Financial Innovation, Australasian Journal of Information Systems and African geographical review.
